He's all about change but what makes him so appealing to the ordinary American?
1. Barack's middle name is Hussein.
2. He is a smoker.
3. He admits he tried marijuana and cocaine during his teenage years. Obama said he admitted using drugs because he thought it was important for 'young people who are already in circumstances that are far more difficult than mine to know that you can make mistakes and still recover.'
4. Barack and his wife Michelle have two daughters Malia and Sasha. The family are writing a children's book together, the profits of which will go to charity.
5. He was opposed to the invasion of Iraq saying, 'I am not opposed to all wars. I am opposed to dumb wars.'
6. In April 2005, Time magazine names Obama one of 'The World's Most Influential People.' He is listed among other leaders and revolutionaries. This same year, the British journal New Statesman names Obama one of '10 People Who Could Change the World.'
7. The name Barack means 'blessed by God' in Arabic.
8. Both folk rock musician Neil Young and urban hip hop artist Common have referenced Obama's presidential prospects in popular song lyrics.
9. In 2006, Barack Won a Grammy for Best Spoken Word for the CD version of his autobiography 'Dreams From My Father'.
10. In the Kenyan town where his father was born, the long-brewed 'Senator' brand of beer has been nicknamed 'Obama.'
