An interesting article appeared from the Press Association earlier this week highlighting the case of Aba Yankah, an African sales assistant and stylist who won a case of unfair dismissal against FrostFrench boutique owned by Sadie Frost and Jemima French.
Ms Yankah, who has a 14 year career in the fashion industry claimed she was sacked after just three hours because she
was black. She was awarded £5,000 by an employment tribunal for injury to feelings and loss of earnings. The tribunal panel said Ms Yankah had not proved race discrimination outright but FrostFrench had offered no satisfactory explanation.
FrostFrench denied the allegations of racism and a FrostFrench spokeswoman pointed out that Ms French has two mixed-race children and Ms Frost works closely with a number of African charities. Does that make them not racist? Hmm!
