Jawad Al-Nawab was born 38 years ago to Iraqi and English parents. He has actively explored issues around
identity and belonging for the past six years.
Presentations include workshops such as Personal Journeys (Mixed Race Matters conference 1999) and Multiple
Heritage (Rotherham Conference 2000).
In 1998, Jawad completed a research project, 'Dual-Heritage: An Arab-British Experience' for the 3rd Arab
Communities conference, University of Westminster. He is co-authoring an article with Zineb Sedira, a
French-Algerian mixed-media artist, which gives voice to the ambiguity of 'Arabs' in the race politics of Britain.
He is also currently working on his autobiography, ‘An Estuary's Boy Journey Home’.
